I am

Here's another art journal page using Journal52's week 39 prompt which was, "I am."

I gave a lot of thought to this one.  I am many things.  I am a mom, I am a wife, I am a friend, I am a sister, I am a daughter, I am an Aunt, I'm funny, I'm generous, I'm broke, I'm just so many things.

But above all else, since my mom's passing...I am lost.

So that is what I chose to depict in this entry.  Hopefully I'll find my way soon!

Peggy, I'm so sorry to hear of you mother's passing. I truly can relate to your feeling of being lost. The same time I lost my mom my only son moved out on his own, so I experience the empty nest syndrome at the same time. I actually felt the opposite of you. I felt I lost being a mother, a daughter and really needed to find out what my new role was going to be which meant I needed to discover who I really was as an individual without placing my identity with someone else. It took a while but I finally felt comfortable with be independant. For many years I took care of my Mom, her brother and raised my son alone. So my identity was a caretaker for someone somewhere, but when that ended I had to take a good look at me and start learning how to nurture me and discover and enjoy my own company. It was hard at first but now I truly love being me. Enjoying my freedom to create, sing, explore new things and places. I do hope that you will be able to find that peace and that person you were created to be. You have begun a new journey in life, embrace the challenge.
