Trying something new!

I am a YouTube junkie.  There, I've said it!  No, I don't want to participate in a 12 step program and no I don't feel guilty or "dirty" in any way!

I bore easily.  Hence why I'm a junkie!  I like to learn.  I love watching new techniques, or at least new to me techniques. Last week I was watching a video from one of my all time favorite card makers, Kristina Werner.  I've been watching her videos for years!  Well, last week she did this fun card collaboration with Catherine Pooler and I felt the need to try the technique that Catherine showcased in her part of the video <<hint, click here to watch!

Anyway, after watching that video I pulled out some inks, some stamps, and my glimmer mists and this is what I came up with!

To make this beautiful card I used stamps from Inkadinkadoo, Hero Arts, Close to my Heart and Little Yellow Bicycle.  I am really pleased how it turned out and will definitely use this technique again.

Sketchy at Best!

Lately I have found my creativity to be lacking.  Nothing was inspiring me so I hunted around to try to find other sketch challenges out there on the interwebs.  Boy, there are a lot of them.  But his one from the Deconstructed Sketch really got my creativity recharged!

Since I've been doing such "girly" cards lately I also challenged myself to create a card for a boy.  I found this cute little image from Tiddly Inks and decided he would be my focal point.  I had these perfect papers in my stash and I was off!  I am quite happy with the results.  Now off to the next card!

Happy Hour!

It's Friday and I just finished a LOOOOONNNNGGGGGG week at work.  So like most people after an aggravating week tend to do, I decided to go to happy hour.  There was no alcohol involved, no bar snacks, not even a glass of water.  No live entertainment, no people, just me at my desk busily making a happy card and forgetting the frustrations of the week.

Going to happy hour allowed me to Get a jump on the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge for this week!

The cute image is a digital stamp from Tiddly Inks called Happy Bugg that I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers. I die cut the image with one of my Spellbinders Nestabilities Label One dies as well as die cut a piece of pattern paper from American Crafts.  I stamped the background with an old Stampin' Up background stamp and actually had some pink ink in my stash that matched the pink I used in her little hat and dress.  I mounted everything on a 5.5 inch square card and added some glitter to her wings and cupcake.  Such a happy card to start my weekend!

A Quickie

Just a quick post to show you my card for this week's CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge.

Here is the sketch:

And here is my bright, cheery card.

The stamp and the sentiment are both from Inkadinkado's Friendly Characters stamp set.  The yellow paper is from an American Craft's 6 x 6 pack I had in my stash.  I embossed the white background paper with my cuttlebug embossing folder to give the card an even more whimsical look. I needed a happy card to help lift me from the "winter is never going to end" blues!!

Wearin' O' the Green!

I was perusing the internet looking for more challenges to keep me, well, challenged and I happened across this great Go Green Challenge from Newton's Nook Designs.  Since I have a couple of stamps from them, I decided to play along and this is what I came up with.

I used their Wagon's of Wishes stamp set.  I LOVE this stamp set because it's so versatile.  You saw me play with this stamp set for Valentine's Day and although this card is primarily green, the "loads of luck" sentiment makes it perfect for many occasions!

Of course I also had to play with one of my new Close to My Heart goodies.  I used the Chevron Embossing Folder I ordered from my CTMH consultant, Kathy Carr.  I love how crisply it embossed my background paper.

Go check out both sites for some great products and inspiration!  Now onto the next challenge!
