Quickie and a Freebie

Did you know that Tiddly Inks releases a free digital image every week?

Well, now you do.  Here's a couple of cards I created with Annie, an adorable freebie at Tiddly Inks. She is just too stinkin' cute with those curls!

One image I colored with my Spectrum Noir markers, and the other with Spectrum Noir colored pencils.  I loved how both had completely different feels!

Since the image colored with markers was so bright and vivid, I chose a pattern paper just a vivid and fun.  The sentiment come from Newton's Nook Design's Simply Sentimental stamp set.  A few sequins give the card that extra touch.

Coloring the same image with colored pencils gave it a softer feel, so I decided to make a soft rainbow water colored wash to mount her on.  Gives her a completely different feel! Such a versatile image!

Can't wait to see that this week's freebie is!

If at first you don't succeed....

A few months back Tiddly Inks was looking for DT members and I threw my hat in the ring.  While I didn't get picked, I still enjoy me some Tiddly Inks, and if you peruse my posts you'll find quite a few cards made with Tiddly Inks Images.  OK, so I'm obsessed, but  just a little.  So far there are no restraining orders against me, so my obsession will continue.

SOOOOO, now Tiddly Inks is having another DT call, and I decided to try again!  Why not, right?  Who can resist these images?  I certainly can't!

The image I used in this first card is a clear stamp called Beary Sweet - Wryn's Panda.  I incorporated lots of different techniques and details in this card.  First, I embossed a piece of 5 1/4 x 4 1/2.  Then I inked up a piece of watercolor paper with  the Hero Arts Cling Stamp Leaf and Floral  Background stamp and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  After it was set, I used a watercolor resist technique using Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I set that to dry and stamped Wryn on another piece of watercolor paper and the panda on white Crafter's Companion cardstock.  I watercolored Wryn with my Fantasia premium Watercolor Pencils and highlighted my water coloring with my Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils.

I really didn't want to color the panda, but wanted to add some dimension somehow.  So I dug through my stash of embossing powders and pulled out a bottle of white Flock that I've had for YEARS (I actually may have still been in my 30's when I bought it!  LOL).  So a applied the flock to the Panda and Wryn's hat to make them "fuzzy".  Some black Stickles on the eyes and ears of the Panda and Wryn's Panda hat and it was done.

I assembled the card and added some flowers and some twine to add a "organic" details.  So cute!

Or course I had to make a second card...well..because I could!

I wanted a touch of whimsy for this card so I used an older, I believe retired, digital stamp called "Smoochy"  Smoochy was the second purchase I ever made from Tiddly Inks WAAAAY back in 2013! Anyway, I printed Smoochy out twice and colored her lips with my Spectrum Noir Markers and cut them out.  I added some shimmer to her lips with my Wink of Stella.

So since I wanted this card to have a fun feel, I put these cut out lips on an action wobbler and attached it the the rest of the image. And because no self respecting woman would leave the house without at least some lip gloss, I added some Liquid Glass to her lips.  So fun!

Smooches and good luck to everyone applying to the Tiddly Inks DT call, especially me!

Good Friday

So I did this card on Sunday, but I'm just now getting to post it.  I made it to submit to Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paw Challenge #19 and then I hemmed and hawed all week deciding if I was going to post it.  Note to self, you should work on your indecisiveness!

The challenge was to use watercolors, and since I had been playing along with The Daily Marker's 30 Day Color Challenge, I played a lot with my watercolors.  For this card, I decided to watercolor with my Faber Castell gelatos!  I love how creamy and vibrant the colors are and how well they mix when you add water.  Of course since I'm so SICK of winter, I decided to go with a beach scene for this card using the Flirty Flamingos set.  The picture doesn't quite show it, but the inner tube and the balloon are accented with Wink of Stella and Liquid Glass.    So fun!

April Fools!

Yesterday Mother Nature pulled an early April Fools prank.

It snowed.

I know, what else is new, right?

It was kind of pretty.....

Big flakes were falling from the sky....

This was the view from my craft area:

As pretty as it is, I'm done!

Last week I ordered this great stamp set from Crafter's Companion from HSN.  I love the Rock a Blocks!  What a great system for stamping.  Everything I stamped came out perfectly! I can't recommend these blocks enough.  The two stamp sets included were breathtaking, and since I'm longing for spring, I decided to play with the Lily stamp. For inspiration I used this week's sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge blog:

I colored the Lily with my  Spectrum Noir markers and cut it out.  I replaced the circle in the sketch with the Lily, making it the focal point of this card.

I think tonight I'll make a winter card.  Maybe then spring will actually arrive!
