A challenge that's Close to My Heart

This week's CAS(E) this Sketch challenge was a good one!  Well, then again, aren't they all?

Anyway, here's the sketch we got to play with this week:

It just so happened that I recently received yummy goodies from Close to My Heart.  I purchased the Lollydoodle Card Making Kit from My Close to My Heart Consultant, Kathy Carr.  I LOVE the stamp set that came with this set and I thought it went perfectly with the sketch.  Of course I had to add the googly eyes to the owls.  So stinking cute.

One thing I absolutely LOVE about these Close to My Heart Workshops on the Go is that they not only include the stamps, papers, cardstock and embellishments to make up to 15 or so cards, they also include on instructional brochure.  These brochures sketch out the cards for you, with exact measurements for each card and a "map" showing you how to cut your papers for efficiency and more bang for your buck.  I used one of the designs in the brochure to create this card for a swap.  Since I had all the measurements and design at my finger tips I was able to make 9 cards in a short amount of time!

Foxy Lady

**cue the Jimmy Hendrix music**

You know you're a cut little heartbreaker
Foxy
You know you're a sweet little lovemaker
Foxy

I wanna take you home
I won't do you no harm, no
You've got to be all mine, all mine
Ooh, foxy lady

You know you're singing it!

Anyway, have you gotten a look at Close to My Heart's February Stamp of the Month?  If you haven't, get a load of this.

How stinkin' cute is this?  I've been drooling over this stamp set for the last several weeks, so I finally got my act together and ordered it last week.  It came in the mail yesterday, so I HAD to play with it immediately.

The "Hey Foxy" sentiment had me travelling back to the 1970's (I know I'm dating myself here).  I thought about 70's music, movies, slangs, color schemes and for some reason, the "gaudy" bathroom wallpapers that were prevalent during that time (no offence to anyone who still has a 70's bathroom!).  The bathroom wallpapers, believe it or not, were the inspiration for this card!  The shiny papers and patterns reminded me so much of what you would have seen back then!  Strange, I know, but to those who know me well it makes perfect sense!

If you like this stamp set, you better hurry, because it won't be available after this month.  Go check it out at my consultant's website.

Another challenge!

That time of the week, time to post my card for CASE(E) this sketch challenge #64.  Here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

I've used this beautiful stamp set from Close to My Heart before in my cards.  I just love it!  It is retired, so I can't link to it on my favorite Close to My Heart Consultant's web site .  Anyway, I stamped it on water color paper this time and used my water color pencils and ink to do the coloring.  Then I cut the image out and put it on some dimensionals.  The sentiment is also from that same set.

Speaking of Close to My Heart, I worked on another card tonight, one that will bring us back to the 1970's.  But, you're going to have to wait until tomorrow to see it!

So I came home from work today and this is what I found.  I think I figured out what my cats do all day!

Snow Day!

Once again it is snowing here in NEPA.  And I do mean SNOWING!

Like a foot of snow, snowing.

Like I'm hibernating until July, snowing!

Like somewhere out there used to be the street, snowing.

So what's a girl to do?  I know, clean and do laundry....NOT!

I turned my thoughts to spring, kind of, and made this cute little card.  I used this adorable image called Catch my Heat from Tiddly Inks which I colored with my Spectrum Noir Markers.  The image was perfect to use with this Heart Rainfall Die from Simon Says Stamp.  I used distress ink to color my background and popped this cutie up on dimensional adhesive to make her stand out.

April showers bring May flowers!  Now to survive the rest of February and March!

Happy Day

Today is my birthday.  I don't really care that it's my birthday, just like any other day to me.  EXCEPT, I declare to my family that I'm not doing any work and I go upstairs to my loft and PLAY the day away!

I found this great stamp set in ACMoore the other day. It was only $2.00 so I HAD to buy it.

It's by TPC Studios. When I bought it I pictured a bright, colorful, happy card. in my mind.  I thought I would color it in with my Spectrum Noir Markers, but when I actually sat down to make the card today, I decided against the markers.  Instead I decided to paper piece using pattern papers from American Craft.  Yes, I cut out each individual sun ray, the balloon, and the banner.  It took me FOREVER.  But in the end, I like how it came out.  I decided to keep the front of the card simple so my paper piecing could take center stage.  I used one of the sentiment and the smaller balloon on the inside of the card to finish it off.   Happy Birthday to me!

Bee Happy

Decided to play along with CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #62.  I LOVE their challenges and they have certainly helped me get quite a few cards done.  Here is the sketch for this week.

I used Washi Tape (MME Indie Chic) to create the graphic lines in the center.  I picked this tape since I thought it went PERFECTLY with the Bee Happy stamp set from Close To Me Heart. I think it's a retired set since I can't find it on my favorite Close to My Heart consultant's site!    I stamped the little bee image on white cardstock and colored it in with my Spectrum Noir Markers.  Of course I had to add Stickles on the wings!  So cute!
