Boo

Halloween alert!

It's no secret that I love Halloween! So today I made my first Halloween Card of 2015 using the newest Cas(e) this Sketch challenge as my prompt!

This card came together fairly easily.  I embossed the front of the card using Tim Holtz "Cracked" embossing folder.  Then I used some Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Spiced Marmalade, Crushed Olive and Dusty Concord) to add some splotches in the background.  Added a glittered "Boo" from my stash, distressed the edges of the card with Vintage Photo, and it was done!

Is it October yet?

Passing the time.

I'm just passing the time until two big events occur in the coming months.

First, on August 18, I"ll be dropping my first  born off at college.  While I'm proud of his accomplishments and am sure he will thrive in his new surroundings, I'm apprehensive, scared, neurotic, weepy, etc..etc...etc.  It is my first born ya' know.

The other event I'm waiting for is Kathy Racoosin's third color challenge!  That won't begin until sometime in October, so I'll have dropped my son off and have recovered by then - or be heavily medicated.  Either way, I'll be ready to play!

In the meantime, I played with an older Penny Black set called Hello Friend .  I was shuffling through my stamps with the intent of just coloring.  When I happened upon this set, I knew it would be perfect for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  The sentiment is from Newton's Nook Simply Sentimental Set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Feel free to leave comments on how I'm going to survive the college transition!

On time!

Last week I tried to play in Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Blog Challenge, but I was a little too late!  This week I was determined to make it on time, especially since the challenge was FURRY FRIENDS with a spotlight on Newton's Nook Designs.  Now, if you've read my blog before, you know I'm OBSESSED with Newton's Nook, so this one was an easy one for me.

I played with Newton's Holiday Hounds set, but I didn't make a Christmas Card.  This little hound looked like he was jumping for joy, so I used the Simply Sentimental set and made this a congratulations card!  Making the little guy's scarf yellow with white polka dots gives it a totally different feel!

Congrats to me for actually making it in on time this week!

Last Minute Inspiration

I've been in a creative slump of late.  Seems like everything I try to do just doesn't come out the way my mind sees it.  So in an effort to get out of my slump I decided to peruse the web for some good challenges.  A good challenge is always a good kick in the pants for me.

So I came across Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.  Wait, isn't it Tuesday?  Well I better get a move on!

So the theme was dots and they were spotlighting Art Impression Stamps.  I got plenty of them.  So off I went!

I pulled out this cute Beach Babes clear stamp set and started coloring.  After I colored the image I was at a loss as to what to do with it.  So I picked a sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge blog.  Sketch #262 to be exact.  Why not? And to make things even better, the challenge this week is to pick any past sketch to play with!  BONUS!

Even though I missed the deadline at Simon Says Stamp, I did get creative tonight which makes me happy!  Yeah me!

Lazy Sunday

It's been a dreary couple of days here in PA.  Does't help with an already dark mood.  So I decided to do some coloring, and play along with CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge #129.

Seemed simple enough right?

Well, I had another design in mind that I started playing with last night.  Took me 5 attempts to get it right.  When it was finally done and I was staring at it I decided I wasn't going to upload it for this challenge since I wasn't completely happy.  Then this Tiddly Inks Image popped into my brain and I knew IT was the perfect one for this sketch!  This card I was able to complete on my FIRST attempt and I was quite happy with the result!

The sentiment is right!  Hang in there!

Celebrate

For today's card I decided to play with Sweet Sunday's Sketch Challenge #274.  I loved the simple design of this sketch!  The possibilities were endless.

I originally thought I was going to use a flower as the accent piece instead of the star and use some nice floral paper.  As you can see, that's NOT how it turned out!  After looking through my papers I decided I needed to make a more masculine card.  Patriotic themed paper is always appropriate for the men in your life.  Still thinking I was going to use a circle accents, I searched through my stamps and my embellishments. I found a package of star and gem Christmas ornament stickers from Jolee's Boutique.  It was my lucky day.   To pick up on the gold accent of the star, I gold embossed the cardstock beneath the pattern paper.  Added banner and voila', the perfect male card!

Happy Summer

What better way to celebrate the first day of summer than with......a Christmas Card?!

Since I'm playing in The Daily Marker's 30 Day Color Challenge 2 I've been searching through my digital and clear stamps in order to find fun images that inspire me to color.  While searching, I came across this caroling cutie by Tiddly Inks and, even though it's June, decided to color her. Did I ever mention that I have a Tiddly Inks obsession?  Anyway, since she came out so cute, she HAD to go immediately onto a card.  the Music Border Die I picked up on clearance at C.C. Designs was the perfect accent for this card.

Have a Merry Summer!
